ABOUT KEN (ken@betterworldrecords.com)

Ken has been playing drums and writing songs since he was eight years old. He believes in writing meaningful lyrics that are positive, inspirational and impactful, then bringing them to life through great music.

Ken had the pleasure and privilege of playing drums with The Who in L.A. in 2019 as part of a charity event for Teen Cancer America and UCLA’s Breast Cancer Center. P!NK, The Foo Fighters and Kenny Loggins were all part of the event.

A silver lining of the COVID-19 pandemic for Ken was the inspiration to start the record label Better World Records LLC and the formation of artist/band Random Acts of Kindness to share his mission, lyrics, messages and songs with the world. “Healthcare Workers Rock!” was the first track released by Better World Records and gained positive acclaim for its impact on healthcare workers.

After having spent most of his career as an entrepreneur and CEO, Ken retired in 2021 to focus on music, philanthropy and other endeavors.

As a seasoned entrepreneur and executive, Ken has successfully started, built and operated a variety of world-class organizations. Most recently he retired as the CEO of Health Monitor Network. For 16 years under Ken’s leadership, the company grew tenfold and transformed into becoming the largest patient education-engagement company in the U.S. In 2019, Ken led the organization through a transaction that brought a significant investment to the company, via WestView Capital Partners, to support and propel its dynamic growth. Ken is proud of being one of a few select CEOs to have been the leader of a company recognized by its employees as one of the best workplaces in America two years in a row, in 2019 and 2020, the latter year being through the pandemic.

Ken is also an investor in thoroughbred racehorses and in 2022 had the honor and privilege of being a partner in Flightline, the number one horse in the world and one of the greatest of all time. Flightline finished his career undefeated, winning the Breeders Cup Classic. Also in 2022, Ken was a partner in Mo Donegal, who won a variety of high profile races, including the Belmont Stakes.

An international philanthropist who is truly committed to making the world a better place, Ken is actively involved in projects, both domestically and globally, and continues to do Random Acts of Kindness on a weekly basis.

Grateful for the financial aid that funded his education at Skidmore College, Ken established a business plan competition at his alma mater in 2010 and endowed it permanently a few years ago. The Freirich Entrepreneurship Competition encourages Skidmore students to follow their passions and experience an entrepreneurial transformation, similar to his own experience of starting a business when he was a sophomore at the college. More than 400 students have participated and more than 250 businesses have been started from the competition.
